Kirsty Coventry Elected IOC President, Becoming First Woman, First African to Lead Global Olympic Body
Kirsty Coventry has been elected president of the International Olympic Committee. She got a stunning win in Thursday's first-round voting by IOC members in a seven-candidate contest at the 144th IOC session in Greece. Coventry is the first woman and first African to get perhaps the biggest job in global sports, and aged just 41.
